Welcome! Fall is my favorite time of year for quilting! Much as I enjoy working in the garden and the warmth of summer, there is just something wonderful about cooler evenings and the bright colors of mums and pumpkins. Not to mention that with less outside work, I have more time for quilting! More time at the machine and more time to sit in my favorite chair with a glass of hot apple cider and some handwork. Whether it's appliqué, hand piecing or the last touches of a quilt as I sew the final stitches in a binding, hand work continues for me to be the most relaxing part of quilting. While I move through most of life at 90 mph to fulfill all of my responsibilities as wife, mother and grandmother, when I sit down to sew I have only one speed - slow! That's what makes quilting so enjoyable and peaceful - not to mention playing with the fabric, making something for someone special, sewing charity quilts, being creative … The past year has been very exciting for Reproduction Quilts. This time last year we were preparing for our first Quilt Market in Houston. With distribution now through Keepsake Quilting, United Notions, Starwood Distributors and others, patterns from Reproduction Quilts are now available in quilt shops all across America and in Australia, France, England, Scotland, Japan and as far as the Internet reaches! Quiltmania, a beautiful French magazine, is featuring Fannie's Quilt in its Fall issue and will feature Houses and Willows in its Winter issue. In addition, Quilters Newsletter Magazine will feature Victoria's Quilt in Spring 2007. --Karen Witt |
